Get the Glam Goth Look

It looks like mainstream fashion and celebrities are going back to black. We know that you can never have too much black in your wardrobe, so it’s not really a surprise for us. The glam goth look has nothing to do with glam rock. it’s not a mix of glam rock and gothic. It’s basically a super feminine goth, and the definition is mostly makeup related. Who is responsible for this trend? There’s a bunch of high fashion designers who are definitely on the dark side, such as Alexander Wang, Philip Lim, Isabel Marant, Ann Demeulemeester, Alexander McQueen, Rick Owens. They contributed to the popularity of glam goth a lot, even before Rihanna made this term hers to define her look (she also sometimes refers to her goth attitude as ghetto goth).Glam Goth LookWhether you like it or not, fall is just around the corner. And the arrival of fall and winter brings with it gothic clothing in mainstream fashion, that’s a fact. Most years cold weather trends touch on or go fully gothic, and that creates many declination of this style. One of which is glam goth, a subtle yet very elegant version of the dark lady.

How to get the Glam Goth Look

Black. As aforementioned, you want the main colour in your wardrobe to be black. As long as it’s black, it’s fine. Unless you’re going for black yoga pants or black fleece sweatshirts, in which case it is not fine. You need to add that extra glamour and femininity to your outfit, or else it won’t be glam goth at all.
Black lace. This fine texture is key in a glam goth wardrobe. Lace is alluring and classy, and black lace has always been associated with elegance and mystery. Don’t go too far with a black lace dress. Look for items with black lace details like bags and shoes. You can totally go for a black lace top though, maybe matched with some classy black palazzo pants.
Boots. Ankle boots or knee-high boots are a staple in glam goth. Plain decolletes are not edgy enough, so go for boots. Black leather, stiletto heels, platforms, even flat boots like Dr Martens could be ok. Be careful with the latter because you are aiming to elevate your goth look and these may bring it down.so make sure you don’t overdo it or that you look adorned enough.

Other colours. You can totally wear other colours with a glam goth look, as long as the main tint is black. Purple, red and grey are perfect accent colours to add to your outfit.
Makeup. The beauty side of glam goth is the most important part of this look. Glam goth ladies always look flawless and their makeup is never too much or too light. The eyes are dramatic and the lips are always dark, the complexion is porcelain-like. Some popular makeups are the classic smokey eye, cat eye makeup, fake lashes, defined eyebrows, purple or red eyeshadows. Lips should be sultry, vampire-esque.
