You might hear a variation of picks for the sexiest accent around the globe, from Italian to English, Irish to French, but what about American accents? Does anyone find the variable American accents sexy? According to a recent poll by linguistic experts, the answer is yes!

Sexy Accents. If you try to eliminate the concept of language as a whole (it’s tough to compare the bland English language to the flowery Italian or French languages), and simply focus on tone and accent, there is a lot more in common than one might think. In fact, linguistic experts say foreigners find certain American accents rather sexy.
The Research. In order to discover which American accents boasted the greatest appeal, experts in Europe hosted a survey to discover what those in the travel industry found most appealing. Their research, was based on a survey of hotel personnel.
Surveying Travel Industry. “A team of linguistic experts asked more than 400 hotel staffers – who presumably encounter different accents on a regular basis – from 43 different countries to pick the stereotypically sweetest and sourest US accent,” Today.com writes.
The Seven Areas. Today.com reports that the researchers found seven specific regions in the US with highly identifiable linguistic differences – or accents – from the other groups. These areas included basically dividing the country into seven separate sections.
The Findings. According to the study, Europeans weren’t exactly in unison with their top picks for sexiest accents. The findings seemed to depend upon the area with which the participants were from. In other words, certain areas of Europe found certain areas of America to have sexier accents than others.
